Tremella fuciformis is a fungus that produces white, gelatinous basidiocarps that look like fronds (fruiting bodies). It can be found on the dead branches of broadleaf trees all over the world, particularly in the tropics. This fungus is commercially grown and is one of China's most common culinary and medicinal mushrooms. Snow fungus, snow foot, silver ear fungus, and white jelly mushroom are all names for Tremella fuciformis or white fungus.
White fungus is a parasitic yeast that develops as a slimy, mucous-like film until it comes into contact with its chosen hosts, Annulohypoxylon fungi, which it then invades, causing the violent mycelial growth necessary to form the fruiting bodies.
